Visiting the Farm Safely
We want everyone to enjoy their visit to Yeatheridge Farm Caravan and Camping Park. As with all working farms there is a risk of picking up germs from the animals and the environment around.
Animals can carry bacteria and viruses without showing any signs or symptoms so good hygiene is really important during your visit.
There are things that we have done to minimise this risk and below is our recommendations for you to follow when visiting us and exploring the farm land.
Hand Washing - Very Important!
Thorough hand washing is the most effective way to stay safe on the farm.
Please wash your hands with soap and warm water:
- After touching animals
- After touching fences or surfaces in animal areas
- Before eating or drinking
- After removing dirty footwear
🚫 Hand gels and wipes are not a substitute for proper hand washing.
Hand washing stations are located in the Animal Paddock and in the Old Stable Yard (when open for sessions)
General Farm Safety

Do's
- Wash hands regularly and thoroughly
- Supervise children closely, especially around animals
- Ensure children wash their hands properly
- Do not eat / drink in desgnated animal handling zones- The Old Stable Yard and The Animal Paddock
- Use a flat, open hand when feeding animals
- Cover any cuts or grazes with a plaster
- Report any accidents to a member of staff
- Take extra care near ponds and water areas
- Wear suitable footwear, as some areas may be muddy or uneven
Don'ts
- Do not put hands on your face or in your mouth while around animals
- Do not kiss animals or allow children to put faces close to them
- Do not eat or drink in animal areas (including sweets, crisps or chewing gum)
- Do not eat anything that has fallen on the ground
- Do not feed picnic food or rubbish to animals
- Do not allow children to roam unsupervised
- Do not chase, frighten, or squeeze animals
- Do not climb or run in animal areas
- Do not pick up stones, plants or flowers
