Discover 50 acres of enchanting landscape set against the beautiful 18th century Palladian house and explore scented pathways and majestic woodland.
This is a garden for all seasons – highlights include the Millennium Garden, Devon’s longest Camelia hedge and Magnolia Wood. Wander by the river to the Ugley Bridge then climb to the Castle for magnificent views of Exmoor, Dartmoor and beyond.
The house is currently home to the 17th generation of Fortescue family.
Terraced walks offer parkland views and the opportunity to stroll amongst historic statues, follies and temples.
From spring, the woodland garden is carpeted with primroses and daffodils under ancient specimen trees, hundreds of different magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas.
Throughout the summer and autumn, the Millennium Garden boasts a wonderful display of colourful herbaceous planting with lavender edges.
Visit the Castle Hill Tearoom, a welcome spot with incredible views to the Triumphal Arch and Holwell Temple.
After an exhilarating walk, enjoy delicious homemade cakes, a light lunch or cream tea with a wide range of hot and cold drinks available. The Tearoom is open to garden and non garden visitors.
